One of the most pleasurable ways of using essential oils is to add a
few drops of the chosen oil to a bath of warm water. This method has
traditionally been used to treat a wide range of complaints, such as
insomnia, headaches, coughs, colds and period problems.
Any essential oil can be used in this manner, however it is
important not to use too much, as most oils are very potent and can
have an irritating effect on the skin. On average, 2-4 drops is
sufficient for most essences, although you may need to triple the
amount for some of the more subtle oils - experimenting leads to
greater knowledge!
After scattering the essence in the bath, run your hand through it,
to obtain a film on top of the water. Once in the bath, the essences
will penetrate the skin in the same manner as that of an
aromatherapy massage.
Inhaling deeply, lie back and relax - remaining in the bath for
approximately 10-15 minutes.
