LIFESTYLE DISEASES

HEART DISEASE
(Arteriosclerosis / Atherosclerosis)

These conditions between them cover the condition of the actual artery walls (Arteriosclerosis) and the condition of the inside when gradual clogging up and fatty plaque deposits become evident (Atherosclerosis).

Both conditions contribute to coronary heart disease and increased blood pressure with possible subsequent strokes/heart attacks. When the walls' elasticity hardens and/or inside clogging occurs actions to try and reverse these deteriorations need to be taken. The sooner the better. Prevention is best however. In the former case, tissue could be dead or damaged, making it more difficult for significant reversal(s).

LIFESTYLE ATTENTION

  • Do not drink water with chlorine.
  • Do not carry on smoking - makes the blood 'sticky1.
  • Lower alcohol and coffee intakes.
  • Avoid any saturated fats from red meats, dairy products, margarines, coconut, palm oils, snack foods and eggs.
  • Use fish and poultry; preferably 'free range' hens
  • Increase vegetables, fruit, oat bran and dried beans to some 70% of diet.
  • Reduce sugar and salt intake.
  • Replace butter and margarine with soya/lecithin spread
  • Do not eat any coloured cheeses. Aim for low-fat white varieties.
  • Reduce weight to the correct levels for age/height

HOMOEOPATHIC

  • Oxygen Tablets - very necessary
  • Baryta - if elderly, with high blood pressure
  • Vanadium - all rounder
  • Glonoinum - pounding sensation in arteries
  • Cratageus - all rounder

Register with a qualified Homoeopath for proper treatment purposes - often there is bacterial damage to consider. At retail level there are a range of organ 'Drainols' which are very useful both preventatively and therapeutically for this condition.

TISSUE SALTS

  • Calc Phos - increases blood circulation

HERBALS

  • Hawthorn Berries and Flowers (mixed)

AROMATHERAPY

  • Bath Mix - Black Pepper, Red Thyme, Juniper
  • Massage Mix - Ginger, Rosemary, Lemon
For treatment purposes use the guidance of a qualified Aromatherapist.

SPECIAL FOODS

  • Cook with ginger and cayenne from time to time.
  • Include plenty of garlic and onions (raw or steamed).
  • Alfalfa leaf has been shown to dissolve cholesterol induced plaques (Prev. Med. 1984 13 pp 490-500).
  • Use lecithin powder or granules over cereals.
  • Mesoglycan, essential for maintaining structural health or arteries and blood vessels (much used in Italy - needs digging around for elsewhere). Medically referred to as (GAG) complex.
  • Pineapples contain 'bromelain' which has been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation and break down Artherosclerotic Plaques.
  • Eat plenty of chlorophyll (green) foods

SPECIAL EXERCISE

  • Regular, gentle exercise such as brisk walking daily, swimming or cycling

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

  • Yoga
  • TM
  • Probiotics if constipated (essential)
  • Breathing Technique
  • Detox Programme
  • Physiotherapy

Warning - Anyone with any of the conditions mentioned above should not self-medicate and be strictly under the supervision and guidance of their medical practitioner.
