This is a very effective way to relieve pain and reduce
inflammation. Add a few drops of essential oil to a bowl of steaming
water. Immerse a piece of clean cloth or bandage, in the water for a
few seconds, squeeze out excess liquid then place over the affected
area until it has cooled to blood heat, repeat.
Cold compresses are made in a similar way, by using iced water
instead of hot water. This method is useful when treating headaches,
sprains and other swollen conditions, where the skin is hot to the
touch.
