Discoloured Skin Changes in skin pigmentation is common during pregnancy and is
probably caused by an increased production of the hormone which
produces melanin (dark-brown or black pigment in hair and skin). The
nipples will darken and you will notice a brown line that forms down
the centre of your stomach from about the third month onwards. Any
moles, birthmarks or freckles that you may presently have will also
darken temporarily.
