DIVERTICULITIS/DIVERTICULOSIS A common cause of
stomach pain, mainly in people over 50. Small pouches or sacs
develop in the bowel, known as Diverticula, where muscle has
weakened. Symptoms are:
- Spasms in the diverticula area of the intestine
- Bloating
- Pain in the lower abdomen
- Alternating
constipation and diarrhoea status
- Infected pouches due to debris from the gut filling them.
LIFESTYLE ATTENTION
- A major change of diet, lifestyle habits, and toilet habits is
needed immediately - without this, help is a long-way off
- Diet to be modelled on complex carbohydrates, fibres, vegetable
proteins, wholefoods, and regular eating patterns. Fats, animal
protein, refined foods, sugars, bread (all), de-natured foods,
cakes, cookies, pastries, sweets, fast foods, fried foods, frozen
foods, overcooked foods, and wrong food combining are out.
- Lifestyle habits such as smoking, alcohol intake, coffee/tea
intake, cooldrink intake, late nights, insufficient sleep are all to
be challenged and normalised
- Toilet habits such as holding back because of habit or laziness,
and being unaware of the need to achieve elimination every 18-20
hours after a meal, must be brought into focus. Also in the case of
males the habit of sitting-down on the toilet seat to urinate (not
standing up) should be trained in. This then motivates increased
rectal elimination, compared to previous irregular bowel movements.
- Avoid eating pips and seeds - these lodge in the diverticula and
add extra unwanted weight.
