Head Banging
Head banging may be the result of anger, or it may just be that your
baby has discovered "rhythm". Standing, he may begin to bang his
head on the side of the cot while swaying back and forth, like
sucking, this will have a soothing effect on some children, and may
even be related to those times when you lovingly rocked him to sleep
in the early days. If your baby seems otherwise satisfied, head
banging will do him no harm (apart from the occasional bruise) but
there are ways in which you may want to protect his delicate head,
by padding the sides of his cot with a blanket or tightly secured
pillows. Offer him extra love in the form of rocking, and help him
unwind completely before putting him down for the night.
