Is Treatment Always Necessary?
The simple answer to this question is - no. The degree to which
women need medical help is usually determined by her
personality, and one shouldn't be led to believe that Oestrogen
replacement is a cure-all. Oestrogen’s are not without potential
problems, and indeed should not be used by many women.
Very few doctors will start their patients on a course of
hormone treatment in order to prevent the problems from
occurring, and should, in the first instance ensure that the
symptoms present in the patient are actually as a result of
oestrogen deficiency and not related to another cause. For a
correct analyses, it would then be essential that a full history
and physical examination be undertaken, before commencing any
form of treatment. The end result would then allow for correct
dosage and type of treatment, whether this be solely oestrogen,
or a combination of both oestrogen and progestogen.
