HYPERACTIVITY
(Hyperkinesis; Hyperkinetic Impulse Disorder)
Abnormally overactive and restless behaviour in
infants and children, although sometimes adults.
Displays of inattention, impulsiveness, poor
concentration, low stress tolerance and
disruptiveness are signs to watch out for.
Hyperactive babies are fidgety, tend to cry
overmuch, often have eczema and feed erratically.
Hyperactive children are difficult at home, bang
their heads and often rock the cot. At school they
can hardly keep still, have a short attention
span, show a lack of co-ordination and can be very
tearful.
Possible causes include lead poisoning, food
allergy, minimal brain damage, intestinal Candida
passed from mother at birth, drug reactions, too
much TV, or overtiredness
