Normal Living
What is a normal lifestyle ?
This is the question each of us have to answer based on our own
individual needs and aspirations, however “happiness” features in
most peoples requirements and as we know “The key to happiness is
health”. Arthur Schopenhauer the famous philosopher once said “The
greatest of follies is to sacrifice health for any other kind of
happiness”.
In recent times we are finding that even “macho men” are becoming a
lot more aware of their health and the need to have a balanced
lifestyle, eliminate obvious health eroding habits and focus more on
a nutritious diet and an appropriate fitness routine.
As more and more research and information becomes available on
lifestyle diseases and the role that nutrition and “nutrition
busters” have on our health, a huge focus on men’s health has
emerged.
The basic factors to live a naturally healthy lifestyle have not
changed much over the years and remain fairly obvious, however what
has changed is our lifestyles. Our lives are far more stressed, fast
paced and often reliant on “fast foods” while also being seriously
affected by anti-nutrients like pollution, man-made food chemicals
and additives, food processing, genetically modified foods,
pesticides, pharmaceutical drugs, recreational and street drugs and
the excessive use of alcohol, smoking and the consumption of sugar,
coffee, tea, impure water and fried foods. A sure recipe for
disease, suffering and premature death.
Preventable diseases and death
It is totally unacceptable, but a fact that so many diseases and
deaths are caused by our lifestyles, especially when many of these
situations are easily prevented by just being conscious of what the
causes are and what measures should be taken to prevent them.
Some statistics from the US highlight the tragedy of what the
consequences of our lifestyles are:
- Heart disease is the greatest health threat to men accounting
for over 345,000 deaths per year. However a naturally healthy
lifestyle can prevent most heart diseases.
- Cancer annually kills close to 300,000 men. The most common
cause of cancer death for men is lung cancer, with prostate cancer
second and colon cancer third. About one-third of all cancer
deaths are related to nutrition or other controllable lifestyle
factors, like smoking and free radicals
caused by what we eat and drink.
- Stroke annually kills 65,000 men and is also one of the
leading causes of disability which are also primarily lifestyle
inflicted.
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a term for a
group of chronic lung conditions including emphysema and chronic
bronchitis. Lifestyles contribute to these with the main cause of
COPD, being smoking.
Most of these diseases and deaths are easily prevented by being
more aware and focusing on living a naturally healthy lifestyle. In
addition it is critical to have regular health check ups to assess
the affect that anti-nutrients and the environment are having on
your health, enabling you to make the necessary changes in your
lifestyle before its too late.
As Richard Penfounde, our natural health “guru” always says, YOU
must take control of your own health by becoming your own natural
health “doctor” of choice.
So what is the solution to living a normal, happy, disease and pain
free lifestyle with an abundance of vitality and an extended
lifespan?
Richard recommends that you read the section on
“nutrient busters” and start on one of the “Naturally Healthy
Lifestyle” optimum nutrition programmes to suite your specific needs
and aspirations.
