PREMENSTRUAL SYNDROME
(P.M.S)
A collection of symptoms that are both
physiological and emotional that normally develop
7-14 days prior to menstruation and effects some
33% between ages 30-40.
The symptoms typically include:

Breast tenderness

Stomach aches
Causes are said to be:
1. Blood oestrogen levels become elevated at the
expense of blood progesterone levels - the latter
levels reducing some 5-10 days before the menses.
2. Follicle stimulate horomone (FSH) levels become
elevated 6-9 days before the menses.
3. Aldosterone levels become marginally elevated
2-8 days prior.
4. Hypothyroidism is fairly common.
LIFESTYLE ATTENTION

Get off refined carbohydrates, sugar, dairy
products, sodium.

Increase iron, manganese and zinc foods (brazil
nuts, hazel nuts, kidney beans, pineapple,
watercress, avocado, melons, kelp, pumpkin seeds,
lettuce, sunflower seeds, garlic, millet).

Learn stress-reducing management techniques such
as TM, Yoga, Autogenic Training.

Avoid alcohol, tea, coffee, cola, chocolate.
HOMOEOPATHIC
To be taken 3 times daily for 3 days starting 24
hours before expected onset of symptoms:

Pulsatilla - tearfulness

Nux Vomica - flying off the handle at others

Sepia - overtired and snappy

Moderate forms to relax muscles, improve blood
flow and prevent fluid retention.
