Pregnancy Discomforts

Stretch Marks

Unfortunately, stretch marks don't rank under the temporary symptoms of pregnancy, and eventhough they do fade after the birth, they do remain forever! But console yourself however, as when the nine months are over and you have retrieved your previous figure, with pregnancy long forgotten, at least you will have some reminder of your miracle nine months.
During pregnancy there is a rapid expansion in a woman's stomach and breasts, and the fibres that would normally contract after stretching, become overstretched and rupture, leaving a scar in the form of a stretch mark.

Some woman are more prone to stretchmarks than others, but seeing that you will not know what category you fall into, it is better to take preventative measures, thus minimising their effects.

  • Try monitoring your mass, by not gaining excess weight, being sure not to deplete your body of essential nutrients in the process.
  • Invest in a maternity bra that offers substantial support.
  • Regular massaging with Vitamin E oil, will help keep the skin well moisturised, and may well minimise drastic after-effects.
