LIFESTYLE DISEASES

PSORIASIS

Red rashes, or plaques, coursed by dry overlapping itchy, silvery scars usually in the scalp, the back of wrists, elbows, knees or ankles. Often nails are affected. It is said some 2% of typically western lifestyle countries are sufferers at any one time. Stress, emotional upsets can be significant aggravating facts. Not contagious.

Pustular Psoriasis Specific to palms and soles and near areas. Creamy lesions turn into brow-like spots
Universal Psoriasis Ring-shape lesions on scalp, trunk, limbs and nails. Can also be inside elbows and both sides of knees.
Common Psoriasis Red patches coursed with silvery scales, on any of the places described above.
Flexural Psoriasis In the folds and creases of skin. Areas are moist not rough or scaly. Most prone are those overweight.
Guttate Psoriasis Affects children and teenagers. Mini-spots, often triggered by sore throat/tonsils/scarlet fever/chicken pox/mumps/measles.

LIFESTYLE ATTENTION

  • Have thyroid checked for over/under activity and if so treat accordingly.
  • Alcohol tends to aggravate itching.
  • Eliminate dairy products, meat and wheat.
  • Increase raw (or steamed) vegetables, soya beans, tofu.
  • Avoid citrus fruits, sugar, animal meats/fats, honey.
  • Wear clothes made of natural materials, never synthetics.
