Skin oils and lotions are prepared in much the same way as they
would be for a massage, however the emphasis here is on treating the
skin itself, and should therefore contain a more nourishing base
oil. A few drops of essential oil can also be added to an unscented,
bland cream, such as aqueous or added to a face mask. When treating
some skin conditions, such as athlete's foot or herpes simplex (cold
sores), it is better to use an alcohol-based lotion opposed to that
of a cream.
Acne:
bergamot, juniper, lemongrass, rosewood, sage, sandalwood, tea tree
Athlete's foot:
eucalyptus, lemon, lemongrass, patchouli, tea tree
Boils, abscesses & blisters
bergamot, lavender, lemon, thyme
Bruises:
clove bud, fennel, lavender, sweet marjoram
Burns:
chamomile clove bud, eucalyptus, yarrow
Chapped skin:
benzoin, myrrh, patchouli, sandalwood
Cold sores/Herpes
bergamot, eucalyptus, lemon, tea tree
Cuts & wounds
eucalyptus, geranium, marigold, yarrow
Dry, sensitive skin
cassie, frankincense, rosewood, violet
Eczema:
cedarwood, lemon balm, marigold, yarrow
Oily skin:
citronella, lemongrass, marigold, ylang ylang
Ringworm:
geranium, mint (peppermint & spearmint), tea tree, turpentine
Scars & stretch marks:
patchouli, rosewood, sandalwood, violet, yarrow
Varicose veins:
cypress, lemon, orange blossom, yarrow
Warts & corns:
cinnamon leaf, lime, tea tree
Wrinkles:
geranium, mimosa, orange blossom, clary sage, sandalwood, ylang
